Aircraft Maintenance & Inspections

Aircraft in FS Reality need regular upkeep. If maintenance is neglected, the aircraft becomes unairworthy and can’t be rented or flown.

Types of Inspections

There are two required inspections:

  • 100-Hour Inspection: Required every 100 hours of flight time.
  • Annual Inspection: Required once per year.

Running an Inspection

  1. Open the aircraft’s detail page.
  2. Click the Inspection option.
  3. You’ll see a quote showing the cost for each type of inspection.
  4. Confirm the inspection. The cost is charged to the responsible party (usually the owner).

You cannot run an inspection while the aircraft is in flight.

Maintenance Events

Over time, aircraft can develop maintenance issues. These are generated by the system and represent realistic wear and tear.

From the aircraft detail page, you can:

  • View open maintenance items. See what needs to be fixed.
  • Complete maintenance. Fix the issue. This costs money and updates the aircraft state.
  • View maintenance history. See past completed maintenance work.

You cannot perform maintenance while the aircraft is in flight.

Why Maintenance Matters

  • Airworthiness. An aircraft with overdue inspections or critical maintenance issues is grounded.
  • Assignment loading. Aircraft with overdue 100-hour inspections or engine overhaul issues can’t load profitable assignments.
  • Cost of delay. Putting off maintenance doesn’t make it go away. Issues persist until they’re resolved.

Who Pays?

Maintenance and inspection costs are charged to the party responsible for the aircraft, typically the owner. For leased aircraft, the lessee may share responsibility depending on the arrangement.
