The Economy
Everything in FS Reality revolves around a virtual economy. You earn money by completing flights with loaded assignments, and you spend it on rentals, fuel, maintenance, ratings, transfers, and more.
How You Earn Money
- Complete assignments. Fly cargo or passengers from one airport to another. You get paid when you land and the flight is completed.
- Sell aircraft. Sell owned aircraft to other players or back to the system.
- Operator payouts. If you fly assignments for an operator, payouts are split based on the operator’s payout percentage.
How You Spend Money
- Aircraft rentals. You pay an hourly rate to use someone else’s aircraft.
- Fuel. Fuel prices vary by airport. Who pays depends on the rental type (see below).
- Maintenance and inspections. Aircraft need regular 100-hour checks and annual inspections. These cost money.
- Ratings. New pilot certifications cost in-game currency (except Commercial Single and Commercial Rotor, which are free).
- Transfers. Moving your pilot to a different airport has a cost based on distance and travel type.
- Hangars. Renting hangar space for aircraft storage has a recurring cost.
Rental Types: Wet vs. Dry
When renting an aircraft, the rental type determines who pays for fuel:
- Wet rental: The aircraft owner pays for fuel. The hourly rental rate is typically higher to cover this.
- Dry rental: You (the renter) pay for fuel at the pump. The hourly rate is usually lower.
Your Balance
Your current balance is always visible in the top navigation bar. You can view your full transaction history on the Banking page, including every payment, payout, rental charge, and transfer.
Transfers Between Accounts
You can send money to other pilots or to/from operator accounts on the Banking page. Transfers over 10,000 require an extra confirmation step. New accounts must be at least 7 days old before they can send money.
Currency
Amounts in FS Reality are displayed with the § (section) symbol as the in-game currency marker.
